It's Monday! What are you Reading? 5.20.13

Please visit the hosts, Kellee and Jen, over at www.teachmentortexts.com.

This was a slow reading week for me (and it has been slow for me for a while now-ugh).  I am so looking forward to summer vacation (3 weeks away for me) to participate in the annual summer Book-a-Day Challenge.  Read Donalyn Miller's post over at the Nerdy Book Club blog for more information about the challenge.

I finished two books this past week. The first:

I loved this book! This was also my choice for my book club this month, and I look forward to our conversation about it.

I also read this picture book:

I learned some interesting facts about Babe Ruth reading this one! I am a huge fan of Matt Tavares' work.  I read this aloud to my students as well and several of my baseball fanatics reread it themselves several times.

I started:

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 4.29.13

Please visit Jen and Kellee over at their blog - the home of this Monday meme!

It's been quite a few weeks since I've posted for It's Monday! What Are You Reading? I have been in quite the reading funk and haven't read much lately.  March really bogged me down, and I am now just getting out of my reading slump.  I don't have much to recommend but what I read last week I loved!

Last week I read:

Written in verse and would recommend for 8th and up.

I am currently reading:

I got my book club to read this for this month's selection.  I want to highlight passages in the pages of this book.  Love.

A book I just heard about from yesterday's Titletalk that is now on my TBR list:

His and Hers Day 1 Homework

Finally got around to some "homework" for Day 1 of www.onlinecardclasses.com.  It is amazing the number of ideas I learn from each online card class.  One of the many reasons I love card making - the ideas, the inspiration, the creativity - makes me feel like an artist sometimes.

Here are the cards I created last night using Jennifer McGuire's border masking technique.

The first two are the Hers cards (obviously) and "Thanks a Million" is my His card.

His and Hers side by side.

I'll be back with more homework later! Thanks for stopping by!
